AMSA CALLS FOR BASIC SERVICES INSTEAD OF BAILOUTS!
AMSA believes that the ANC truly does not care about the people of South Africa. Minister Mboweni’s so called budget speech was simple a farce by the South African Government to hide the on-going corruption and protect those who continue to loot the state coffers.
AMSA acknowledges the Finance Minister’s commitments to getting debt under control by 2025 and cutting the wage bill by a massive R300 billion are. Although these are not new promises AMSA wonder’s where the South African Government will actually be able to deliver the wage cuts, they have promised.
Leader of AMSA, Veronica Ncube said, “The South African Government has truly lost the plot. It is inconceivable that they would continue to bail out the failing SAA to the tune of R4.3 Billion, which in my opinion is a failed project. It is further disturbing that the budget for social grants, where millions of South African’s benefit, will be cut. The corruption needs to end. This shows that the South African Government is truly an uncaring government that prioritise their pockets over the lives of its citizens. Our Government prioritises failed State-Owned Enterprises such as SAA (R4.3 Billion), Eskom (R31.7 Billion) and the Land Bank (R7 Billion) instead of focusing on the vulnerable citizens who will see a reduction of allocation at around R5.8 Billion – this is not acceptable.”
AMSA is concerned that in spite of the lofty promises made by Minister Mboweni’s the Government will still borrow R541 billion more this year. This means that it costs South Africa the same amount in interest on loans as it does to run our country. The poorest citizens bear the full brunt of mismanagement and theft of state funds and it is time that we as a country say good-bye to the ANC in the next election. We must take to the Polls and ensure that we no longer accept corruption in our country by saying no to the ANC.
